Hallett Cove South Primary School is a welcoming small school community for Preschool - Year 6 children and includes a school run OSHC program.
With the Easter weekend coming up and school holidays there are lots of opportunities to get your hours in!🍁 Celebrate this Autumn season and enjoy any number of Autumn Holiday Activities from our curated selection below. 🍂 Earn a stamp and 30 minutes in your Passport for each activity completed. Search "Autumn" on the Portal to upload each activity and most importantly, have fun! 🌟
Our Companion Dog ‘Charlie’ was back in action today. He loved getting lots of cuddles on his recess yard duty and morning visits across the units. Charlie is available for all staff and students every Tuesday and Thursday. Come and say hello 🐶

Our introduction to ‘Learner Agency’
We kick started this thinking last year with our SRC’s seeking out ‘student voice’ from across the school delivering the question ‘how can we make recess and lunch time more exciting for you?’
Through collecting student responses and collating the data together, an astounding response read in favour of ‘’having access to more equipment, so we can play together’’
The SRC brainstormed ideas and ran lunchtime clubs like soccer, drawing and hip hop dancing but something was missing. We were then able to discuss with the school leadership team and come up with the idea of providing each classroom with their very own ‘sports kit’. Ultimately, this would have everyone in the yard collaborating together and utilising our awesome grounds with joy and laughter through the new sports equipment.
To add some responsibility and allow for a deeper dive in Learner Agency (outside the classroom) the SRC developed a ‘Borrowing Roster’ giving students the opportunity to be accountable for borrowing and returning the equipment they use. Each class will elect ‘sports monitors’ to keep on top of this and share this responsibility to look after the new equipment.
Today, the SRC’s were excited to spend the morning labelling and putting together the kits before going around to all of the classrooms and explaining how and why we have the new equipment, how to use it and the importance of the roster being activated at each break time.
They did a fantastic job speaking in-front of their peers displaying great leadership and ‘Learner Agency’ by leading and driving this new initiative at HCSPS.
Our next step is to use this great example inside the classroom to co-create our reading goals with our teachers and peers for Term one!

Colour Fun Run Success!
Congratulations to everyone for their positivity and display of school spirit with participating in our first ever ‘Colour Fun Run’ today!
It was amazing to be part of an inclusive, collaborative and exciting event brining together our community by shining the spotlight on the importance of health and fitness.
This fundraising opportunity was put together by our amazing SRC Leaders and we thank them for planning the day, running practice sessions and displaying their student voice through actions of sportsmanship today. Well done Indra, Alarah, Noureen, Evie, Ruby, Savea, Mia, Kitana and Troy.
Our event kicked off after lunch with all classes performing a ‘Just Dance’ for our ‘Health Hustle’ which even saw our parents and teachers join in the fun, we then moved to the grass area to begin our rotation stations involving students working in groups for the parachute letter scramble and connect four. Finally we finished off by working in pairs for the soccer dribble and footy kick accuracy. It was great to see so many happy faces and laughs during this working on both ‘team group skills’ and effective ‘partner feedback’.
The main event saw our fun run involve the anticipated ‘splash of colour’ and surprise sprinkler effect for the wow factor inviting parents, grand parents, SSO’s, teachers, brothers and sisters to join in the fun with our students. A very special moment for our HCSPS community.
Collectively, we managed to raise close to $4,000, which for a small school on their first attempt is absolutely amazing. We appreciate the assistance from School Fun-Run and although the emphasis was not on raising much needed funds for our school but rather, awareness for our health and fitness, your fundraising efforts are truly appreciated and will go towards projects for improving our school grounds.
Get ready to select your prizes online in the coming days and their is still time to gain more donations! Thank you to everyone for making this event possible and bringing us together as a community. Enjoy some happy snaps below.

Nature Play SA Thank you for joining us tonight for a exhibition of Student learning in the outdoor learning space in the “Butterfly Garden”. Native animal and plant sculptures as well as student created produce was on display to highlight the incredible, student-led, transformation and learning occurring in the garden space. Thank you for your positive feedback and motivating comments to our students, they left with a big smile on their faces.
During Term 2 and 3, students from the 5/6 class have worked with Simon, our Aboriginal Community Officer and collaborated with Abe from Nature Play SA to continue to further imagine, design and build the outdoor classroom.
The beautiful and flexible learning space has been further developed with the addition of traditional use and bush tucker plants, creating a sustainable bush kitchen garden and learning environment for all to enjoy.

Massive well done to everyone involved in this exhibition of learning. This group of learners were only in junior primary when we first began to reimagine the space but they have become connected and caring guardians of the plants and creatures that call it home. So proud to have played a small part in this wonderful project.
What an amazing effort. It’s incredible to see learners connect with their local environment through action. Their sense of pride is evident in their beautiful artwork and representation of the local flora and fauna 💚🌿
Paralympian Visit today: Lucinda Bueti leaves us with a 'growth mindset’ attitude!
Hallett Cove South Primary School students and staff were treated with a motivating visit by Australian Paralympian Basketball Super star, Lucinda Bueti this morning at assembly. Lucinda spoke about her ‘growth mindset’ and power of positive thinking to remain optimistic with all facets of life with her disability and urged everyone to follow her lead.
Lucinda was brave in sharing her story to how she navigated losing her leg and finding Wheelchair basketball to competing for Australia at the most recent world championships in Dubai. A big thank you to Lucinda for being generous with her time, staying back after and taking questions, meeting with students who share a similar physical disability and connecting with them on a holistic level.
Enjoy the attached photos of the positive interaction from this morning’s assembly and we wish her all the best for her goal of reaching the 2024 Paris Olympics next year and urge everyone to get behind the Gliders!

Our year 3/4 students under the guidance of their teacher Mr. Will, ventured out to the local ‘Sugar loaf’ for an engaging visual learning experience as part of their Geography unit. When you see them in the yard make sure to ask them about their experience and the fun walk!
